That's All Folks!

We had a great run here in the LG15 community for 2 1/2 years.

BreeFM's Last Dance brought back lots of familiar faces and a good time was had by all. I would like to thank everyone who stopped by for our last hoorah, the DJs who have made the event a fun one for all and to the chatters and listeners for sharing in the experience.

Also I would like to thank DJs and chatters past and present who made BreeFM a memorable place in LG15 history since 2007. Without you BreeFM would never have gotten off the ground and you have made this experience one I will always treasure.

BreeFM signed off for the final time at 2:48am Pacific time.

The last song played was the first one played when BreeFM signed on the netwaves back in 2007.

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

Thank you again, I less than 3 you all.
MEEP!

BreeFM's Last Dance

All good things must come to and end. BreeFM, the station of the Breeniverse is going out with a bang (or atleast a slight tapping) at BreeFM’s Last Dance, Saturday March 20th in #BreeFM. So come on by and DJ, play, dance, chat, drink and say goodbye to the station of the Breeniverse.

We had a good run here at BreeFM and through the years we were fortunate enough to have amazing community members come to the helm to DJ or chat, and share many a puzzle-solving, links, jokes and even a bit of life as well as having to tolerate its lovable dictator, MicFranXon (Oh hai! *waves*).

Times have changed in our community.

Our beloved web series is no more and now fans run the show (is yours). Jonas is probably skin and bones strung to a ceiling somewhere (although he was let down to comment on Harper’s Globe). Two watchers had (an adorable) baby. The Creators have a software company. Madison died and came back like it never happened. Even Tibetan Monks have been rick-rolled. By now there isn’t anything ‘she’ hasn’t said. Many of us have gone on to college / found new careers / got married / or have other things to do with our time.

The fabric of the community has changed and with so many other things to do, an internet radio station for the community of a web series that no longer exists, no longer fits into that fabric despite our constant attempts to weave a Snuggie into it in the darkest hours of the night (we would’ve had it too if it wasn’t for that mid 40’s white guy who keeps ‘raising the roof’ in the commercials). Sorry to say BreeFM has become a pre-SlapChop tuna.

On Saturday March 20th we would like DJs and chatters past and present to come on by the ole’ station for one last hoorah. Kind of like our IRC Proms, although spiking the punch is mandatory now. DJs interested in doing a slot please contact me at: breefm@gmail.com

BreeFM’s Last Dance is Saturday March 20, 2010
Starting at 2pm Pacific in #BreeFM IRC chat
Also, there are no rules that day! (well accept about the punch)

BreeFM Town Hall Notes 1/16/10

In case you missed the Town Hall meeting, here are the rules and regulations we discussed and agreed to.

BreeFM Town Hall Notes 1/16/10

1. New rules & regulations - going to be posted on lg15today and then linked in the topic.
a. Treat people the way you would like to be treated, you don't have to like everybody but you do have to be civil.
- every email was about how people talk to each other
- just treat people nicely
- use your better judgement
b. If you have an issue with someone, talk about it with that person, in PM
- we don't all need to know about it
- don't argue about it in big chat because it makes everyone uncomfortable
- if you don't feel like you can talk to them, come to kira and mike about it and they will moderate
- there is a process in place for moderation
c. No personal arguments in the chat room.
d. . We are all representatives to the channel, please treat n00bs with kindness.
- welcome everyone, tell them what's up
- be nice, help them out!
e. A DJ picks their own show, if you do not like what the DJ is playing you can nicely suggest an alternative, however the DJ does not necessarily have to play what you want OR become a DJ yourself.
- if a DJ is doing a show, it's THEIR show! if you don't like it, then don't listen!
- if people don't like it and don't tune in, don't get mad at them!
- videos aren't necessary anymore, so generally don't link them. if you want to send it, PM it to the person you want to see it
- Can this all go without saying? Yes, but seriously, people need it in black and white. Some people might not realize that there's stuff that was a problem, and now they all know. and we're all on the same page.
f. When a Dj is on air, please do not post links containing video/audio in the main chat as it is disrespectful to the DJ, however if something must be sent to someone, do it in PM. It does not matter if the recipient is tuned in or not.
- (see rule e)
- when they're on the air, it's their time.
- they put time and work into the shows and it's disrespectful
g. If you have problems or concerns please feel free to talk to Station Management by sending email to: breefm@gmail.com
- mike and kira will talk and figure things out about the problems

2. DJ Rules
a. When you are DJ'ing it is not your public forum to talk disrespectfully about community members.
- when you're a DJ, you're on the air. it's not nice to be talking shit about people
- if they are tuning in, or their friends are tuning in, you never know who’s tuning in
- this includes Skype
b. If you are DJ'ing, you are a moderator for the channel. This means you are repsonsible for enforcing the rules of the channel and will be held to a higher standard of conduct while you have the '@' by your name. The consequences will be harsher due to your operator status.
- you need to be rule number one
- you need to be respectful
- if you break the rules while wearing the DJ suit, your punishment will be more harsh because you're being held to a higher standard
c. Tags need to be correct
- mashups, DJName: Song title, (featuring) Artists

Open Floor:
1. KindredPhantom op's aren't supposed to be people friends, they enforce the rules
2. notgordian it's that the friendship shouldn't interfere with op duties
- you are neutral
3. immortal1 there's a difference between a bash and a rant
immortal1 a good editorial can be made without bashing

General:
- Once a month - community events, i.e. prom, but maybe smaller
- everyone watch this movie that's on TV or a favorite book or something
- bring in new people - people who might not know about LG15
- DJ games: i.e. handoff shows
- decade shows
- if you feel like you can, donations are accepted to pay the station fees
- DJ guidelines will be posted for refreshers and for new DJs
- if there are problems, bring them directly to kira and mike
- if there's a problem, they will both know about it, don't expect only one of them to know

Issues/Grievances

Hello friends, I am sad to report that this post is not about such happy making things as music, but in fact a necessary attempt to resolve some of the issues we have been having in our channel. I know that lately it has felt less like a community and more like a drama epicenter of people not really talking to each other, but about each other. It pains me to see our community so torn apart and I am committed to resolving the problems I can and making Breefm once again the place we all love to congregate and hear about awesome music. I want our community to thrive, not die down! In an effort to realize this goal I am conducting a town meeting of sorts. From today Jan 6th 2010 until next wednesday Jan 13th I would like all of you to send me an email at Karebearkira@gmail.com regarding any problems or grievances you may have about the channel or conduct in the channel. This is not a gossip session, or a means for personal persecution, however if you have specific problems with specific peoples conduct in breefm I would like to hear them. If you send me a grievance I would also like you to include a proposed solution to your specific problem or another you have seen, as well as any ideas you may have to help strengthen our community, this is everyones channel, and we all need to work together to make our channel the best it can be. After I have read all of your emails and proposed suggestions I will discuss them with Mike and together we will come up with our own possible solutions and address the issues as best we can. On Saturday Jan 16th at 1pm Pacific we will hold a Breefm meeting, where we can politely discuss all of the things that have come from this, the direction we wish to go in 2010, and address what problems we can. Hopefully we can find a way to return Breefm to the awesome place we all want it to become :) Thanks guys!
